Job Description

Based in Trail, BC, in the beautiful West Kootenays and on the traditional territory of the Sinixt, Ktunaxa, Syilx and Secwepemc peoples, the Skills Centre is hiring a Communications and Marketing Manager. The position pays $70,000 – $78,000 per year and comes with generous health, dental, RRSP and professional development support. This position is based on-site at the Skills Centre’s newly renovated office building in downtown Trail. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications & Marketing Manager is responsible for developing the strategic direction of the organization’s branding and marketing initiatives and leads the design, development, and implementation of the communications and marketing plan using various communication channels. The role involves creating content, assessing changing marketing environments, evaluating outcomes, and adjusting strategies to meet goals. The Communications and Marketing Manager is also a key member of the Skills Centre leadership team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities Include:

Communication

  • Leads, develops, and implements a communications and marketing strategy aligned with the Skills Centre’s strategic priorities.
  • Develops content for all communication channels including press releases, blogs, and web content.
  • Identifies collaboration opportunities with other not-for-profits, educational institutions, community organizations, and employers to enhance the Skills Centre’s reputation.
  • Supports, reviews, and edits proposal packages.

Marketing

  • Develops and implements plans to grow the brand, digitize processes, and adopt new tools and channels.
  • Evaluates marketing outcomes and adjusts strategies as needed to achieve goals.
  • Provides direction on channel design, marketing, promotions, analytics, research, brand image, and community engagement.
  • Monitors media for mentions, trends, and impacts relevant to the Skills Centre and its programming.
  • Collaborates with design agencies to manage the website, portals, and related projects.

Leadership

  • Supports and trains team members on marketing and communication initiatives; provides client training as needed.
  • Leads all marketing and communication efforts for the Skills Centre’s programs and services.
  • Participates as a member of the Skills Centre leadership team.
