Job description

Job Description:

  • Supervises, develops and monitors the work of Quality CMM Technician and Quality Associates.
  • Responds to and follows up on external customer concerns and Corrective Action Requests and is the voice of the customer.

Core Job Responsibilities:
  • Champions process capability improvements by analyzing data and implementing corrective actions.
  • Assembles, reviews and approves PPAPs.
  • Assists in development and maintenance of PFMEA/Control Plan.
  • Conducts or assists in process audits such as PFMEA/CP evaluation and production process issues.
  • Champions metrology for new programs and replacements/additions to current programs and the training of Operators and Inspectors.
  • Works closely with Purchasing for the development and evaluation of supplier services, including issue follow-up and closure of corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Issues internal C.A.R.s, follows up to ensure closure, updating CAR database system as appropriate.
  • Provides guidance and technical support to the production department.
  • Performs internal audits to applicable standards including customer specifics.
  • Completes work assignments in a timely, accurate, and safe manner in accordance with the standards required through the company and/or applicable Regulations/Legislation.
  • Promotes the company's operational visions, values, and goals.
  • Adapts and promotes lean manufacturing principles.
  • Conducts all work activities in a manner that is supportive of team effort.
  • Conducts Elimination of Waste team meetings and supports the 5S program.
  • Participates in training or other team activities to support ongoing continuous improvement.

Other Responsibilities:
  • Promote the company's operational visions, values, goals, and behaviors.
  • Participate in company programs including G&O, 5S, Kaizen, meetings, training, etc.
  • Conduct all work activities in a manner that is supportive of a team effort.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Participate in the company's health, safety, environmental, and operational programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager or his/her designate.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Post-secondary certificate/diploma or equivalent in work experience.
  • American Society Quality Engineering Certification (asset).
  • Minimum 3 years experience in related field (including APQP, PPAP, Control Plans, FMEA, within Automotive or Manufacturing environment required).
  • Possess working knowledge of ISO/TS 16949, ISO 14001, and Q1 compliance criteria.
  • CMM operation and programming (asset).
  • Understanding of CMM metrology and limitations.
  • Must possess excellent computer skills; quality software applications including PCDMIS, MPACT, and statistical software such as MiniTab (asset); proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to achieve results/targets through others who are not direct reports.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
