Our client, a leading consultancy in Ontario, is looking for a Building Sciences Lead to join their expanding office in Toronto.

The successful candidate will provide building sciences services on various projects from our Toronto office and will be responsible for:

  1. Building envelope inspection and testing for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings (roofing, curtain wall, balcony, windows, skylights, cladding, air & vapor barriers, sealants, waterproofing, damp proofing, precast, structural steel, fireproofing, etc.);
  2. Building restoration and condition assessment;
  3. Capital planning;
  4. Litigation support & dispute resolution;
  5. Performance evaluations & investigations;
  6. Restoration engineering;
  7. Construction and performance audits.

The Building Sciences Lead will also be responsible for:

  1. Establishing and managing a Building Sciences Division;
  2. Providing field inspection and testing services;
  3. Preparing technical proposals and reports;
  4. Recruiting and training junior staff in building sciences;
  5. Training geotechnical and environmental staff for building sciences testing and inspection;
  6. Developing and maintaining client relationships;
  7. Managing staff and resource allocation within the division.

Requirements and Experience:

  • Degree from an accredited university in Building Sciences or Civil Engineering;
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario;
  • A minimum of X years of diverse building sciences experience;
  • Strong technical and project management skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Valid Driver’s License.
