Position purpose:

The Assistant Coach will support the Head Coach in developing student-athletes within a holistic environment, handling duties related to technical coaching, recruiting, administration, team management, alumni relations, community events, and fundraising. The role may also include coordinating game strategies and technical schemes for team sub-units.

Responsibilities include:

1. Implement and evaluate annual objectives, practice sessions, and competitions for assigned team sub-units.
2. Assist in team meetings, video and performance analysis, sport psychology, team building, academic monitoring, and player evaluations.
3. Help develop game strategies in collaboration with the Head Coach or Defensive Coordinator.
4. Organize off-season training, practices, and training camps.
5. Identify recruits across Canada through established networks, develop recruiting packages, and communicate with recruits and families.
6. Organize campus tours and liaise with university support services.
7. Develop and implement a multi-year recruiting plan based on current roster evaluations.
8. Coordinate fundraising initiatives with the Marketing and Communications department.
9. Work with the Manager of Camps and Intramural Programs on summer youth camps.
10. Monitor student-athletes' academic progress and coordinate support with faculties and advisors.
11. Coordinate community outreach and campus promotion activities involving student-athletes.
12. Assist with alumni relations and development activities.

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education.
• Practical coaching experience and technical knowledge in the sport.
• NCCP Level 1 certification or equivalent, or ability to obtain it.
• Experience with sport analysis software and systems.
• English proficiency; bilingualism in English and French is an asset.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends according to practice and league schedules.
