A leading educational institution is seeking a skilled Carpentry Teacher for their Trades Awareness program. This role involves teaching alongside college instructors, coordinating certification sessions, and leading field excursions. The Trades Awareness, Skills and Knowledge Carpentry Program (C-TASK Program) is a dual credit trades awareness program designed in collaboration with the Camosun College South Island Partnership. The teacher will team teach with a college instructor two days a week, coordinate industry certification sessions, and lead field excursions to local trades sites and craftspeople. The teacher should have training and understanding of differentiated instruction in classroom and advisory settings. Responsibilities include providing theoretical classroom instruction and practical application of building construction methods in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and drywall. There may also be opportunities to support academic coursework within the TASK program. The program is supported by Skilled Trades BC, SIP, and requires the teacher to collaborate closely with our District Career Ed team.
The starting annual salary ranges from $58,635 to $106,217, based on experience and qualifications, in accordance with the collective agreement. The position also offers a competitive benefits package and pension.
