Job description

Faculty Relations supports collective bargaining, collective agreement administration, and ongoing labour-management relations for academic employees of York University, comprising 8 unionized employee groups (approximately 4,000 employees). Reporting to the Director, Faculty Relations, the Senior Labour Relations Advisor provides guidance, advice, and promotes legal compliance to academic administrators and managers on academic staff labour relations and human resource matters. The Senior Advisor also supports the negotiation of collective agreements and participates in collective bargaining as assigned. Additionally, the Senior Advisor conducts research, data collection, develops analytical tools, prepares reports, and maintains files related to internal complaints, grievances, awards, settlements, and external decisions to inform recommendations to clients and senior management.

Qualifications
  1. Education: University degree, preferably in Industrial Relations, Law, Business Administration, or a similar relevant field.
  2. Experience: Proven skills in labour negotiations and expertise in collective agreement administration, including case preparation, grievance presentations, and legal counsel on employment legislation.
