Job description

CAPS Collaborative is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic full-time or part-time certified speech and language pathologist assistant to join our dedicated team of professionals. Applicants should have experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder. Programs are located in public school settings allowing for inclusion opportunities. The applicant will work in an embedded therapy model individualized to each student's needs. School-based experience is a plus. Caseloads may include districts such as Leominster, Winchendon, Orange, and other nearby districts.

About the role:

Assists speech and language therapist with non-instructional classroom duties such as supervising classroom routines and preparing materials. Provides specialized services as requested by speech and language therapist and consultants.

Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver direct services to students as identified in IEP under supervision of SLP.
  2. Maintain records of therapy sessions as determined by SLP.
  3. Attend all meetings and in-service workshops as required.
  4. Assist the SLP during assessment of students exclusive of administration and/or interpretation.
  5. Assist with preparing materials and scheduling activities as directed by the SLP.
  6. Maintain records of mandatory supervision with SLP is 20% of services provided: 10% direct, and 10% indirect.
  7. Maintain records of therapy sessions and data collection/notes on target goals/objectives.
  8. Monthly Medicaid documentation and timely submittal to SLP.
  9. Collaboration with teachers, specialists regarding student progress and programming.
  10. Maintain professional boundaries and ensure student/staff confidentiality as appropriate within the educational Team.
  11. Contribute to professional growth and collaboration by staying informed on current literature/resources in the field and actively participating in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.

Candidate requirements:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in communication disorders.
  2. State Certification as SLP/Assistant.
  3. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  4. Respect and maintain student and family confidentiality.
  5. Cooperates successfully as a team member.
  6. Communicates effectively with other members of the team including giving and receiving feedback. This includes written and oral communication.
  7. Maintain regular attendance.
  8. Flexibility and willingness to learn new skills, to carry out assignments, put in essential time and effort.
  9. Perform delegated duties with level of expertise and assume responsibility for own professional development.
