Our client, a Boutique Law Firm is seeking a Commercial/Civil Litigation Legal Assistant to join their team. Their firm handles complex litigation matters, so they are looking for a candidate with substantial experience in this area. This role will work closely with their senior lawyer, a highly accomplished civil litigation lawyer who also handles mediations and arbitrations and teaches at Osgoode Hall Law School.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Provide comprehensive administrative support
  2. Manage and update master lists
  3. Draft basic legal forms and documents
  4. Oversee and maintain file management systems
  5. Handle court filings and related procedures
  6. Interact professionally with clients
  7. Coordinate and schedule hearings, motions, and other legal proceedings
  8. Schedule and organize mediations and arbitrations

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  1. Strong understanding of civil procedure
  2. Familiarity with the court system, including filing and scheduling processes
  3. Experience with the Commercial List and related procedures
  4. Proficiency in Caselines and hyperlinking documents
  5. Knowledge of motion records, trial scheduling, motion courts, trial records, and pleadings
