Qualifications

RN Acute - Emergency Transportation

Shift: Full-Time, rotating Days/Nights/Weekends, 36 hours/week

Responsibilities
  • Assess the needs of patients and families, provide appropriate teaching, and make necessary referrals to ensure continuity of care.
  • Develop an individual plan of care collaboratively with the patient/family and healthcare team.
  • Complete documentation promptly to maintain an accurate legal record of patient's care.
  • Deliver high-quality care utilizing the nursing process, demonstrating knowledge and clinical skills pertinent to the specialty on the assigned unit, in accordance with policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Utilize a holistic approach considering diversity, biopsychosocial, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the age of patients and families served.
  • Delegate and provide direction to other healthcare team members within their scope of practice, holding them accountable for their involvement in the care plan.
  • Apply critical thinking in developing nursing interventions while maintaining responsibility and accountability for the patient's condition.
Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited RN nursing program. BSN degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of full-time pediatric emergency or pediatric critical care experience. BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications required. Pediatric intensive care experience highly desired.

Licenses/Certifications: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Iowa in good standing. Must possess and maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications or obtain within three months of hire. Approved Trauma Course required upon hire. C-FRN or C-NPT certification required within 2 years of hire. CPEN preferred. Valid driver's license required for work-related driving.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking). Multicultural sensitivity. Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office. Patient-focused with critical thinking skills and independent judgment.

Others

Use of standard equipment for essential functions. Travel to other UPH facilities may be required. Ability to work in various environmental conditions including weather extremes, noise, vibration, and aviation-related fumes or turbulence.
