OPSEU 258 salary range for Communicative Disorders Assistant is $25.78-$28.68 per hour.

About the Opportunity:

The Communicative Disorders Assistant at KidsAbility, under the direction of a Speech-Language Pathologist, enhances the communication skills of clients in partnership with their families and community. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Implement, record, and evaluate all aspects of assigned speech and language therapy programs for children with communication challenges efficiently and effectively.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant community resources and factors impacting speech and language development to promote appropriate development.
  • Initiate activities to improve professional knowledge and skills, staying updated with new interventions.
  • Support team goals and activities, motivating and supporting interdisciplinary team plans related to client and family services.
  • Foster understanding and positive relationships with clients, families, co-workers, and the community through effective communication.
  • Practice in line with KidsAbility’s mission, values, and strategic plan.
  • Maintain the Code of Ethics of the CDAAC and follow guidelines for the use of supportive personnel of the College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists.

More About You:

To qualify, applicants must have a Graduate Certificate in Communication Disorders Assistant (post-graduate certificate following a college diploma or bachelor’s degree in a related field) and:

  • Membership in the Communicative Disorders Assistant Association of Canada (CDAAC)
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with high attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Ability and willingness to work as part of a team and independently, demonstrating self-motivation and initiative
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle, as travel is required
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications including SharePoint and Teams

Additional assets include:

  • Experience with children and youth with various developmental, physical, and communicative disorders
  • Knowledge of electronic charting software like AlayaCare
  • Standard First Aid and CPR certification
