Job Description

Position Overview: As a Data Analyst chart reviewer, you must be CHIM certified with knowledge of reviewing and analyzing Inpatient medical coding (ICD10CA/CCI) in an Acute hospital setting. The incumbent will perform health information functions related to databases within Health Coding services, acting as a liaison between clinicians and HIM professionals to ensure data quality, clinical documentation, and ICD10CA/CCI coding accuracy. You may be scheduled at the General or Birchmount campus based on departmental needs.

Requirements
  • Possess a University degree or Diploma in Health Information Management
  • Current registration with Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA)
  • Minimum 5 years acute care Inpatient(DAD) coding experience in a hospital setting
  • Knowledge of Canada’s Health Care System, CIHI’s case mix grouping (CMG+), Resource Intensity Weight (RIW), Ontario funding reform, HBAM Inpatient Grouper, and HIG
  • Thorough knowledge of MIS guidelines
  • Experience with WinRecs abstracting system and Meditech
  • Excellent skills and knowledge of DAD and NACRS coding for chart audits and QA supervision
  • Proficiency in scripting reports using Crystal report writer for data quality and reporting
  • Responsible for audits on coded data to ensure ICD-10/CCI standards and accuracy
  • Analyze clinical documentation quality and accuracy to maintain data standards
  • Develop and distribute materials on clinical documentation
  • Knowledge of data submission and correction files to CIHI, CCO, and CCN
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Windows, Excel, Word)
  • Demonstrates values aligned with SHN’s Code of Conduct and promotes a positive work environment
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting at all organizational levels
  • Strong work performance, attention to detail, attendance, and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to customer service and community engagement
