Maintenance Lead Hand, class A refrigeration

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Facility Maintenance Manager, the maintenance lead hand will oversee warehouse activities and any other duties assigned. Additionally, ensure the safe and efficient operation of the refrigeration and HVAC systems and other related power plant life safety equipment in compliance with Company standards & specifications and all applicable legislation, regulations, codes and standards. RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Responsible for general preventative maintenance of facility systems refrigeration equipment, power generation and life safety equipment.

  • Monitoring and trend analysis of temperature readings on refrigeration equipment, defrost setups, alarm monitoring, maintaining documentation and operations of the ammonia plant facility.

  • Monitoring and trending of power plant and life safety equipment.

  • Data entry into work order systems (Maximo) in a timely manner.

  • Maintaining a safe facility in meeting all Provincial and local guidelines.

  • Assisting to ensure occupational health and safety and regulatory compliance and working with contractors as required.

  • Comply with and maintain the internal Gordon Food Service PSM (Process Safety Management) program

  • Schedule/track and document all required testing for the ammonia refrigeration system

  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Details:

  • Assists with the safe and cost effective operation of warehouse activities and processes.

  • Conducts performance monitoring of staff, initiating appropriate follow up, including praise and recognition as well as, if necessary, disciplinary action and termination in consultation with Supervisors and Human Resources.

  • Operate and maintain and clean facilities according to AIB, HACCP and Gordon Food Service standards.

  • Instructs and monitors personnel in use of equipment. Provide staff with the necessary tools for success.

  • Promote a team oriented environment, coordinate with all departments while executing day to day tasks.

  • Ability to act fast and adapt to unexpected change in a fast paced environment.

  • Be approachable, relatable, maintain an open mind when communicating with staff.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have Refrigeration Operator Class “A” Certification

  • 2nd Class Stationary Engineer and/or Refrigeration ‘A’ Operator.

  • Grade 12 diploma with post-secondary education preferred.

  • 10 years of related work experience.

  • Effective leadership, communication and organizational skills.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and decision-making skills.

  • Experience in diagnosing and repairing technical and facility equipment.

  • Thorough knowledge of the Technical Standards and Safety Act, Operating Engineers Regulation and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

  • Proficient in CMMS/Maximo.

  • A strong mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting abilities.

  • Proficient computer skills and good problem solving skills .

  • A team player with good communication skills and the ability to supervise contractors.

  • A strong background in facility preventative maintenance.

  • Other professional certificates and schooling would be an asset (Electrical, Millwork or Welding).

  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, racking, carpentry, welding and hydraulics is an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, racking, carpentry, welding and hydraulics is an asset.

  • Exposure to three (3) different temperature zones within the warehouse.

    • The Grocery area of the warehouse is room temperature; varies from cold in the winter and warm in the summer.

    • The cooler area of the warehouse is approximately 1 or 2 degrees C.

    • The Freezer area of the warehouse is approximately –15 degrees C. Some areas of the freezer can get as low as -23 degrees C.

  • Moderate noise level

  • CSA approved steel-toe safety boots must be worn on the warehouse floor.
