Job Overview

The Transportation Planning department offers planning and engineering services for a wide range of transportation projects for both public and private clients. We are seeking a student in engineering, planning, or design to support various projects, including active transportation planning, pedestrian, cycling, urban street and trail design, multimodal transportation master plans, traffic signal operation / coordination studies, and parking studies. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain diverse experience in the transportation field within a leading consulting firm.

This position offers the chance to work with the Active Transportation and Complete Streets group within the Transportation Planning department.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in project activities such as research, CAD design, data analysis, and report writing.
  • Assist in preparing engineering and planning studies.
  • Create visualizations like drawings, charts, maps, and graphics to communicate technical details.
  • Coordinate with team members.
  • Occasionally visit sites, attend meetings, or participate in workshops and consultation events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Candidate Profile

  • Strong technical, analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Interest in transportation planning and active transportation design.
  • Proficiency in GIS analysis and CAD design.
  • Creative and innovative thinking.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Leadership experience from extracurricular or volunteer activities.
  • Willingness to travel within the Greater Toronto Area or Ottawa for site visits.
  • Knowledge of transportation modeling software like Synchro is an asset.
  • Valid G / G2 driver’s license and access to a vehicle are assets.
