Job Description

All students must complete a current Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before being considered for a federal/college work-study program. To be eligible for Federal Work Study employment, students must be enrolled and attending six credit hours of fundable coursework.

As a student assistant, you will be expected to fulfill certain job responsibilities. Campus offices depend on student employees, and your position as a student assistant is important to the successful operation of the department.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Remaining enrolled and maintaining satisfactory progress towards graduation as defined in the "Standards of Satisfactory Progress for Financial Aid Recipients." A copy of these standards is available in the college catalog.
  • Willingly performing assigned work satisfactorily and following supervisor instructions. Do not complete homework during work hours.
  • Abiding by college and departmental rules and regulations, conducting yourself professionally.
  • Adhering to the agreed-upon work schedule and accurately recording all worked hours on the timesheet.
  • Notifying your supervisor in advance if you will be absent due to illness, family emergency, or tests.
  • Remaining in the job for at least one semester unless exceptions are made due to extenuating circumstances.
  • Notifying your supervisor in writing if you decide to quit, providing reasons and as much notice as possible.
