As a Financial Planner, you will focus on developing and deepening client relationships by providing high-quality advice and service within the mass affluent market. You are an entrepreneurial professional who understands that growing a practice involves building long-term relationships, leveraging external networks, and welcoming the freedom to grow your practice independently. Your clients are your greatest asset, and your goal is to help them meet their financial objectives through tailored investment and financial planning advice.

You excel at building new relationships and appreciate the flexibility to meet clients outside of traditional office hours, in locations that suit their schedules. Working within a collective Scotiabank framework benefits both your clients and your practice.

Following a comprehensive financial planning framework, you will be responsible for driving investment sales and acquiring new clients, while adhering to global sales principles, compliance, and regulatory standards. You will also identify new business development opportunities within your assigned market area.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Business Development: Implement plans to attract prospects and serve existing clients, identify additional investment opportunities, and facilitate solutions or referrals.
  2. Client-Centric Solutions: Provide investment solutions aligned with a financial planning framework, conduct outbound calls, and perform needs analyses across financial statements, including competitor statements.
  3. Community Engagement: Participate in local professional and community events, deliver seminars, and develop your market profile through networking and marketing activities.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in financial planning and investment sales.
  • Mutual funds certified professional with current MFDA licensing (Investments Funds in Canada or Canadian Securities Course).
  • Completed or working towards PFP(R) and/or CFP(R) designation.
  • Proven networking, client acquisition, and interpersonal skills, with experience building Centers of Influence.
  • Goal-oriented, entrepreneurial, and capable of working independently and within a team.
  • Extensive knowledge of market trends, offerings, economic conditions, and regulatory environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for client meetings.

Additional Information

This is a mobile role requiring frequent travel. Compensation includes base salary plus variable pay.

Locations: Quesnel and Williams Lake, BC, Canada.
