This is an Android role within Reddit’s UI Platform team. The team’s mission is to deliver a cohesive, modern, and accessible experience across all Reddit platforms.

The role aims to bring best-in-class UI/UX to Reddit’s Android users worldwide. You will help establish standards in Android development to accelerate progress and elevate quality across teams.

As a senior engineer on the UI platform team, you will drive development of Reddit’s cross-platform design system and evolve our UI framework. You will have company-wide scope and impact, shaping the future of Android development at Reddit.

What you’ll do

1. Advance Reddit’s accessibility goals by developing solutions based on Android best practices.
2. Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to develop Reddit’s cross-platform design system.
3. Lead the evolution of UI development practices at Reddit, promoting adoption of Jetpack Compose.
4. Help build a technical foundation for rapid experimentation without sacrificing quality.
5. Serve as a go-to expert for Android development challenges.
6. Continuously improve your technical and non-technical skills.

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
2. Several years of professional Android development experience using Java or Kotlin, building user-facing applications at scale.
3. Strategic thinker passionate about developing scalable, well-designed software to improve lives globally.
4. Proven track record leading large, cross-team projects.
5. Experience with modern Android frameworks such as Jetpack Compose and Kotlin coroutines.
6. Entrepreneurial spirit—self-directed, innovative, and action-oriented in fast-paced environments.
7. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including design, product, and data teams.

Note: This role is permanently remote and is open only to candidates currently authorized to work in the United States or select areas of Canada. Physical Reddit offices are available for onsite work if preferred.
