The Occupational Therapist works under the supervision of the Manager. The Occupational Therapist (OT) collaborates with clients, caregivers, and family to facilitate, restore, and/or maintain optimal levels of function in self-care, productivity, and leisure. The OT provides consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up while working within the hospital, the client's home, and/or their community. The OT establishes individualized treatment plans and goals, manages a busy caseload, and uses clinical judgment and decision-making skills to prioritize issues daily. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required. The OT provides education and support to clients, families, and caregivers. The OT functions as both a member of an occupational therapy clinical team and a multidisciplinary healthcare team and contributes to the clinical education of OT students and supervision of OT Assistants.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
  • Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia, is mandatory.
  • BLS-C
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, and other healthcare providers
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
  • Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Permanent, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Commencing February 3, 2025

Compensation and Benefits

$33.97 - $42.90 Hourly
