The Opportunity

JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you passionate about the safety and security of Oil Sands personnel and assets? As a Security Investigator reporting to the Security Lead, you will monitor, direct, and report on all aspects of security operations, planning, compliance, systems, and procedure development at both Horizon and Albian Oil Sands sites. You will provide security project management services to Canadian Natural business units to assist with the continuous improvement of site security programs and services.

Key Details:

  • Job location: Horizon/Albian Oil Sands - Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Company sponsored fly-in/fly-out and camp facilities with flights from Calgary or Edmonton
  • Shift schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off, 12 hr shifts
  • Safety sensitive position: Yes
  • Application deadline: May 19, 2025

Key Accountabilities

  • Conduct investigations into criminal activities and security-related incidents, including motor vehicle incidents, to identify vulnerabilities and mitigation strategies.
  • Review intelligence reports from national and international sources to assess potential business impacts, liaising with law enforcement, intelligence agencies, First Nations, and Métis groups in the Fort McMurray area, as well as security professionals in the oil and gas industry.
  • Evaluate and provide direction to the existing contract guard service at Horizon and Albian sites.
  • Monitor daily security issues and emergency incidents, recommending necessary changes.
  • Manage contingency and threat assessment responses and support the Emergency Operations Center management.
  • Identify training needs for the security services group.

What You Bring To The Role

  • Post-secondary education with 5+ years of Security/Law Enforcement experience.
  • Understanding of physical security planning and principles.
  • Valid Alberta Driver’s license.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, First Nations, and Métis communities, and Oil Sands operations is advantageous.
