Director of Finance

Salary Range : $170,000 – $190,000 CAD

About Our Client

Our client is a well-established player in High Rise construction sector, known for delivering large-scale, complex projects across the Greater Toronto Area. With a robust portfolio and strong industry reputation, they continue to lead with innovation, operational excellence, and a commitment to long-term growth. As part of their continued expansion, they are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Finance to join their senior leadership team.

Position Overview

The Director of Finance will oversee the full financial operations of the business, including strategic planning, forecasting, financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and risk management. Reporting directly to the executive leadership team, this role will be critical in supporting the company’s continued growth and helping steer financial decisions in alignment with operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting, finance, budgeting, and forecasting functions.
  • Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Develop and monitor financial KPIs and dashboards to support business performance.
  • Manage cash flow, job costing, WIP schedules, and financial analysis for construction projects.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal controls, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with project management, estimating, and procurement teams to align financial strategies with operational execution.
  • Liaise with external auditors, banks, and legal counsel as required.
  • Mentor and lead a team of finance professionals to support high performance and development.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and executive team based on financial analysis and projections.
  • Lead the development of annual budgets and long-term financial plans.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in financial leadership roles, preferably within construction or a project-based industry.
  • Deep understanding of construction accounting, job costing, and WIP analysis.
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Strategic mindset with a high level of business acumen.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
