The successful applicant may be eligible for an annual full-time incentive of up to $2,000 until 2025, as per MOU #31 of the current MNU collective agreement.

Position Overview

Directly accountable to the Manager, Health Services, the Registered Nurse provides nursing services for patients/residents, including those with complex and unpredictable health needs. Responsibilities include: independent nursing services, administration of prescribed treatments, leadership within the healthcare team, and coordinating patient/resident care and discharge. May direct other nurses, students, healthcare aides, and support staff. Collaborates with physicians and health professionals in the facility and community. Demonstrates commitment to the Mission, Vision, Values, and goals of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and Deer Lodge Centre. Performs duties according to health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures, including use of personal protective equipment and reporting safety concerns.

Experience
  • Experience with chronic illness, geriatrics, and complex continuing care.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing program.
  • Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) certification preferred.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Maintain active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba.
  • Participation in professional associations like ARNM preferred.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Knowledge of WRHA and Deer Lodge Centre's mission, values, policies, and practices, including PHIA, WHMIS, and Universal Precautions.
  • Understanding of RN Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics, and scope of practice under RHPA.
  • Supportive of geriatric and complex care nursing principles.
  • Strong prioritization, delegation, communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, adapt to change, and maintain confidentiality.
Physical Requirements
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort required.

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.

A current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check are conditions of employment. The candidate is responsible for any service charges. Checks must be obtained within six months of employment start date.

Employees cannot hold multiple positions across WRHA entities exceeding 1.0 EFT. The WRHA includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, and other facilities.
