Elevating Curling: BC Clubs Invest in Professional Development Programs

Curl BC’s member facilities have been investing in their staff to advance the development of our sport at the club level.

1. Training Camp in Edmonton: Last month, representatives from the Kimberley, Marpole, Kelowna, Chilliwack, and Vancouver Curling Clubs attended the first-ever training camp organized by the Association of Curling Professionals (ACP). Fifty Associate Curling Professional candidates learned from Mentor Pros and Curling Canada staff.
2. Testimonials from Club Managers and Coaches:
   • Will Sutton, General Manager of Chilliwack Curling Club & Community Centre, recommends the ACP programs for their comprehensive approach to technical, tactical, and operational excellence.
   • Chris Summers, Head Coach of Vancouver Curling Club, values the program's framework aligned with Curling Canada’s standards and plans to incorporate new ideas into their programming.
   • Blair Jarvis, Manager of Kimberley Curling Club, highlights the program’s impact on his understanding, new strategies, and potential revenue growth.
3. Ice Technician Course: Jared Spencer from Victoria Curling Club attended Curling Canada’s five-day Competition Ice Technician Course in Waterloo, Ontario, focusing on ice preparation for major competitions.
