Job Title: Clinical Informatics Specialist - Digital Refs/Ords

What you will be doing:

  • Provides clinical informatics leadership when participating in business and clinical systems reviews and needs assessments for referrals and orders.
  • Provides clinical leadership in the current and future state workflow mapping, gap analysis, and clinical requirements related to referrals and orders in a public/private context.
  • Identification and mitigation of clinical issues/risks associated with the successful design, build, launch, and sustainability of referrals/consults/orders.
  • Collaborates with members of the Connected Health System and other organizational programs/departments and partner affiliates related to system-wide practice and workflow change initiatives, practice innovation and redesign, and documentation/nomenclature standards.
  • Leads in the development and/or adoption of organizational and/or clinical change management policies and procedures as they relate to referrals and orders and clinical practice process redesign.
  • Assess the requirements for high-impact analytics reports and measures to monitor progress, and work with the clinical communities to encourage adoption and use for improved clinical outcomes.

What you must have:

  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Health Sciences Profession supplemented with seven (7) to ten (10) years’ experience in leading and coordinating major provincial clinical informatics or quality improvement initiatives in large, complex health care environments.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of clinical practice and workflows in healthcare delivery.
  • Previous clinical experience in the areas of primary care, electronic medical records, clinical information systems, referrals, and orders.
  • Experience leading or supervising teams in the design and implementation of a comprehensive clinical informatics initiative for a provincial healthcare ecosystem.
  • Working knowledge of clinical services, information technology, and healthcare systems.
  • Ability to effectively navigate and deliver results in a large and complex environment.
  • Strong forward thinking, analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to lead a diverse stakeholder group through complex discussions, build consensus, and negotiate solutions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to build and maintain positive working relationships with vendor staff and external consultants will be key success factors in this role.
  • Ability to coordinate, prioritize and complete multiple tasks with strong time management skills to meet project deadlines.
  • It is critical that the Clinical Informatics Specialist have the ability to deal with and resolve politically sensitive issues, which may result in a high impact to the organization. This role requires someone with superlative clinical informatics knowledge and experience, strong leadership, and communication skills.
