Job description

You will lead a team of application support professionals ensuring the safety, soundness, compliance and resilience of the Vendor Managed application portfolio in support of RBC Investor Services (IS) business and their clients.

You will have overall accountability to deliver on the Technology & Operations (T&O) strategic direction and priorities and provide thought leadership that is clearly aligned with the various technology and business objectives.

Your focus will be to build and maintain a world-class services and application support disciplines team in supporting the Fund Accounting and Middle Office application portfolio.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Deliver on the strategic direction and priorities, pertaining to the support, availability, reliability, compliance and resiliency of all applications, and their infrastructure, within the application portfolio
  • Partner with internal peers and 3rd party vendors, as appropriate, to improve attributes of service levels & quality along with effective and efficient incident, issue & problem resolution
  • Foster a continuous improvement mindset/culture focused on improving overall client experience, service quality, platform resilience & stability and cost effectiveness
  • Manage vendor relationship and performance.
  • Ensure all applications and vendor processes adhere to internal risk frameworks and regulatory requirements and Collaborate with risk, legal, and compliance teams where applicable.
  • Monitor vendor compliance with security and data protection standards; escalate non-compliance or vulnerabilities promptly
  • Contribute in the definition of overall systems architecture to support the business objectives and to ensure that there is a consistent use of technology and architecture within IS
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to direct reports in creating a working environment of high employee engagement with focus on proactively providing reliable, flexible and innovative technology solutions.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have:

  • Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication skills along with strong presentation skills. Ability to determine the information and communication needs of the stakeholders and project.
  • A strong understanding of technology and/or financial services industry and successful track record in leading technology teams.
  • 5 – 7 years of a successful track record managing applications and technology solutions for the financial industry and specifically in the asset servicing & custody, wealth management and/or capital markets sectors
  • 3 – 5 years of a successful track record in managing 3 party software/solution vendors, providers and partners including contracts and service level agreements
  • Good knowledge and expertise in working with audit, risk, privacy and information security teams

Nice-to-have:

  • Industry Certifications (ITIL, PMP)
  • Good working knowledge in EPMF/AMF, SDLC & ITIL processes for application support and development
  • Strong knowledge of T&O maintenance & support processes (applications and infrastructure) within RBC
  • successful track record in application custodianship disciplines and practices
