High School Math and Science Teacher (Temporary)

Anticipated Start Date: August 25, 2025


Anticipated End Date: June 26, 2026


Assignment: Predominantly high school math with some high school science classes and options (dependent on expertise)


FTE: 1.0 (Temporary)

Responsibilities
  • Establish course objectives based on Alberta Education curriculum guidelines; communicate these to students. Prepare lessons and classroom activities accordingly.
  • Utilize diverse instructional approaches suitable for grade level and student needs. Plan and conduct activities that promote observation, questioning, and investigation. Assign and grade homework.
  • Evaluate student performance, behavior, and social development; maintain accurate records. Use various assessment tools.
  • Enforce rules for behavior and safety, following school policies. Collaborate with colleagues and communicate with parents regarding student progress and needs.
  • Participate in curriculum planning, professional development, and staff meetings. Contribute to school programs and initiatives.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet diverse student needs. Support students requiring extra help or special accommodations.
  • Organize and supervise extracurricular activities and experiential learning opportunities. Use technology to enhance learning.
  • Supervise support staff and assist in their performance evaluation.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed, including organizing classroom materials and displaying student work.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • Experience teaching high school curriculum
  • Successful Criminal Reference Check (including vulnerable sectors) within 3 months of start date

  • Knowledge of differentiated instruction, student engagement, assessment practices
  • Strong work ethic and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
  • Trustworthiness, integrity, and commitment to lifelong learning
