Job description

The Company is looking for a motivated and capable Senior Actuary to work in their Bermuda Reinsurance pricing team.

  • Location: Hamilton
  • Type: Permanent

Key Duties (Including but not limited to):

  • Taking a lead role in pricing, as a trusted partner to underwriters across a wide range of lines of business. This will involve carrying out pricing directly, using proprietary pricing models, and reviewing the work of others. This will often be done without direct supervision or support, and so will require depth of technical knowledge, clear communication, and comfort in leading others through the process.
  • Working with underwriters and other actuaries to refine pricing assumptions and techniques in advance of renewal periods.
  • Developing and maintaining pricing models, including in Excel and Python, either as part of the wider reinsurance segment, or on regional projects.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Qualified Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or Casualty Actuarial Society (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 7 years of industry experience in (re)insurance, and a resulting deep understanding of the (re)insurance market and its pricing practices. Reinsurance pricing experience in Property, Marine & Energy preferred.
  • Expert proficiency in Excel and other MS Office applications, and experience of manipulating large datasets in SQL.
  • Proficiency in coding languages such as R or Python.
