Aerospace Design Manager – Mechanical and Physical Engineering
Location – Montreal (Hybrid)
CapGemini Montreal is seeking an Aerospace Design Manager specializing in Mechanical and Physical Engineering, with experience in people management, design, and composites.
Management Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain relationships with collaborators to ensure optimal performance.
- Support business development initiatives for aerospace in North America.
- Lead candidate selection and interview processes, collaborating with Talent Acquisition to forecast hiring needs.
- Identify market trends and implement strategies to increase profits and performance.
- Scale team size according to workload and facilitate employee transitions to emerging roles.
- Enhance team efficiency and implement improvements to increase contribution margins.
- Support the creation of learning paths related to new technologies, tools, or methods, and connect team members to these resources.
- Lead workload management for on-site and offshore team members to ensure resource alignment and project delivery.
- Support purchase orders with current and prospective clients.
- Track and bill all deliverables for the design and integration team.
- Provide coaching, goal setting, and proactive project transitions for employees.
- Maintain client relationships and identify opportunities to expand Capgemini's portfolio.
Technical Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with functions such as harness manufacturing, aircraft interiors, methods, stress, systems, and support departments like mass properties, M&P, etc.
- Serve as the client interface and single point of contact for technical work.
- Review systems layouts, installations, assemblies, and detailed drawings.
- Manage investigations related to change authorities like RFCs and PCRs.
- Lead design changes through all organizational change process cycles.
- Provide technical solutions for design or manufacturing issues.
- Generate and implement ideas for cost and weight savings through design changes.
- Support other engineering and operations departments directly.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience in Airframe Design and System installation.
- Knowledge of Composites and Tubing (Metallic and Composite).
- Strong background in PLM tools such as CATIA V5 and ENOVIA, including the CATIA Composite Module.
- Familiarity with Canadian Aerospace practices, standards, tools, and processes.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
- Experience with Datalink, BDI, ICMS.
