Aerospace Design Manager – Mechanical and Physical Engineering

Location – Montreal (Hybrid)

CapGemini Montreal is seeking an Aerospace Design Manager specializing in Mechanical and Physical Engineering, with experience in people management, design, and composites.

Management Responsibilities:

1. Develop and maintain relationships with collaborators to ensure optimal performance.
2. Support business development initiatives for aerospace in North America.
3. Lead candidate selection and interview processes, collaborating with Talent Acquisition to forecast hiring needs.
4. Identify market trends and implement strategies to increase profits and performance.
5. Scale team size according to workload and facilitate employee transitions to emerging roles.
6. Enhance team efficiency and implement improvements to increase contribution margins.
7. Support the creation of learning paths related to new technologies, tools, or methods, and connect team members to these resources.
8. Lead workload management for on-site and offshore team members to ensure resource alignment and project delivery.
9. Support purchase orders with current and prospective clients.
10. Track and bill all deliverables for the design and integration team.
11. Provide coaching, goal setting, and proactive project transitions for employees.
12. Maintain client relationships and identify opportunities to expand Capgemini's portfolio.

Technical Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with functions such as harness manufacturing, aircraft interiors, methods, stress, systems, and support departments like mass properties, M&P, etc.
2. Serve as the client interface and single point of contact for technical work.
3. Review systems layouts, installations, assemblies, and detailed drawings.
4. Manage investigations related to change authorities like RFCs and PCRs.
5. Lead design changes through all organizational change process cycles.
6. Provide technical solutions for design or manufacturing issues.
7. Generate and implement ideas for cost and weight savings through design changes.
8. Support other engineering and operations departments directly.

Required Skills:

1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
2. 10+ years of experience in Airframe Design and System installation.
3. Knowledge of Composites and Tubing (Metallic and Composite).
4. Strong background in PLM tools such as CATIA V5 and ENOVIA, including the CATIA Composite Module.
5. Familiarity with Canadian Aerospace practices, standards, tools, and processes.
6. Strong leadership and communication skills.
7. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
8. Experience with Datalink, BDI, ICMS.
