Your Opportunity:

The Alberta Clinical and Surgical Assistant Program (ACSAP) provides International Medical Graduates (IMGs) with an alternate career path to become Clinical/Surgical Associate Physician. ACSAP programs put candidates through a six-month assessment and evaluation that, upon successful completion, can lead to a full-time and permanent acute care coverage role that addresses clinical and/or surgical coverage shortages. Acute Care Coverage is currently recruiting for a psychiatric position at Alberta Hospital Edmonton. Associate Physicians will provide day and after-hours coverage. Associate Physicians will be integrated into the current healthcare team, which includes fellows, NP's, residents and clinical associates.

Description:

Associate Physicians are registered for supervised practice with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) under the Limited Practice Registry and provide clinical support under the direction of AHS Medical Staff. In this position you will deliver care to patients at the (AHE) within a multidisciplinary team in Addictions & Mental Health. You will be working alongside physicians, nurses, pharmacists and dieticians. Job duties often include examination of the patient, documenting the history, conducting a complete physical examination, developing a treatment plan in consultation with the attending/supervising physician, writing appropriate orders, and entering these orders into the patient care electronic or manual system.

Required Qualifications:

Only International Medical Graduates (IMGs) who have submitted a complete application package to ACSAP and shared the applicable documentation according to the requirements listed on the program website are eligible to apply. Applicants must have one of: A current Limited Practice Register – Clinical Assistant license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, or A current active application with the Alberta Clinical and Surgical Assistant Program (ACSAP) or be eligible to participate in the Alberta Clinical and Surgical Assistant Program (ACSAP) and have initiated the application process.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants who have recent experience in an acute care facility; specifically, those who have had specific experience within the last 3 years in Addictions & Mental Health and GIM/Family Medicine.
