About Us

The Alberta College of Family Physicians (ACFP) is the provincial chapter for the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), established 70 years ago. We are a member-based, not-for-profit organization representing over 6,000 family physicians, residents, and medical students across Alberta. We support certification through continuing professional development (CPD), uphold standards for certified learning, and advocate on behalf of our members to promote excellence in family practice.

Position Overview

The Executive Assistant (EA) plays a vital organizational role supporting the Executive Director (ED) and the Board of Directors. This position manages executive administrative tasks, supports governance activities, and ensures smooth daily operations, serving as the first point of contact for the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Executive Support: Manage high-level email correspondence, coordinate scheduling, travel, and expense reporting for the ED, President, and Past President/President Elect.
  2. Communication & Records: Support information management, maintain records, and assist with website updates related to governance activities.
  3. Volunteer Coordination: Support onboarding and meetings with Board liaisons, including medical students and residents.
  4. Office Support: Manage supplies, mail, shipping, and courier services.
  5. Event Support: Assist with planning and delivery of major organizational events.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Previous experience as an Executive Assistant.
  • Post-secondary degree, certificate, or diploma preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, digital collaboration tools, and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Understanding of not-for-profit governance and health care environment (assets).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary ranges from $60,000 to $75,000 based on qualifications, with benefits including health and dental coverage, RRSP matching, and coverage for underground parking or transit.
