Job description

Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Manager, Health Services, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing services for patients, including those with complex and unpredictable health needs. Responsibilities include independent nursing services, administration of prescribed treatments, leadership within the healthcare team, and facilitating patient care coordination and discharge. The RN demonstrates commitment to the facility's vision, values, goals, and objectives.

Experience
  • Acute care experience preferred.
Education
  • Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing education program.
Certification and Licensure
  • Maintain active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba.
  • Participation in professional associations such as ARNM is preferred.
  • Current BCLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification is an asset for emergency and critical care units.
  • Additional relevant certifications (e.g., CNA, ICU) are assets.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification is an asset.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Knowledge of relevant standards, codes, laws, and policies.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Competence in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge of Indigenous customs is an asset.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize care and respond to multiple demands.
  • Self-development and teamwork abilities.
  • Adaptability to changing situations.
  • Proficiency with computers and software applications.
Physical Requirements
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort required.

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check, Child and Adult Abuse Registry Checks. The successful candidate is responsible for any service charges incurred. Checks are valid if obtained within six months prior to employment start.

Employees are not permitted to hold multiple positions across WRHA that total more than 1.0 EFT.
