Job description

Utility Operator II

Position Type: Permanent Full-Time

The Storm and Wastewater Section is seeking a Utility Operator II to coordinate and participate in the installation, repair, inspection, and testing of Storm and Wastewater systems. This role requires versatility, heavy lifting, and manual dexterity.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working on wastewater and stormwater systems
  • Following best management practices to maintain water quality
  • Performing tasks related to installation, repair, upgrade, and control of stormwater distribution or wastewater collection systems
  • Assisting with investigations and testing
  • Operating equipment related to excavation and pipeline installation

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • EOCP Level I Certification for Wastewater Collection or Water Distribution (asset)
  • Two years of pipefitting experience in water or wastewater systems
  • Experience and/or training in directing others
  • Basic navigation skills with field-based GIS software
  • Traffic Control Certificate
  • Confined space entry training
  • Annual renewal of Driver’s Abstract
  • Sufficient physical strength, stamina, and coordination for manual work in various weather conditions

The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (40 hours/week).

This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $37.95/hour and excellent benefits. Job details and application information can be found at www.saanich.ca.
