Temporary Technician III, Field Research

Location:

Morden, MB, CA, R6M 1C2

This position is required to be on-site at our Rosebank, Manitoba branch.

Nutrien Ag Solutions is the retail division of Nutrien, providing full-acre solutions through our network of trusted crop consultants at more than 2,000 locations in North America, South America, and Australia. For more than 150 years, we have been helping growers achieve the highest yields with the most sustainable solutions possible.

This role will work closely with the Research Agronomist to successfully conduct experimental trials in canola, corn, soybean, wheat, and barley, and will help test the Loveland Products line of high-performance crop input products.

This is a seasonal position and is from April 2025 - April 2026.

What you will do:

  • Work with the Research Agronomist to plan and conduct the field testing of designated research material using defined methods that will ensure accuracy and optimize results under experimental protocol.
  • Support and work alongside seasonal staff members by providing training, coaching on safety, answering questions, partnering on the completion of work assignments.
  • Maintain equipment, including troubleshooting and repairs as needed.
  • Follow procedures, prepare seed samples, plant, spray, maintain and harvest research trials, collect data, and operate field equipment as well as a truck and trailer.
  • Assist in conducting field tours.
  • Maintain a daily log of activities.
  • Model our core value of safety by leading and enabling a culture in which you and your team are actively contributing to a safe work environment.
  • Assist in the recruitment of seasonal staff.
  • Mandatory over time during busy season and some travel will be required.
  • Completing other assignments as needed to meet business objectives.

What you will bring:

  • 3 years of combined relevant crop research experience and/or relevant post-secondary agricultural education is required.
  • BSc in Agriculture is an asset.
  • Knowledge of crop research methodology is an asset.
  • Willingness to work in adverse conditions (e.g. dusty, hot/cool/windy weather, etc.) and ability to repeatedly lift up to 25 kg.
  • Valid driver’s license required; able and willing to obtain Class 3 driver’s license.
  • Experience in operating small plot research equipment such as tractors, seeders, sprayers and combines is an asset.
  • Possess a strong attention to detail, safety-focus, and ability to keep organized.
  • Eligibility to obtain membership in the Manitoba Institute of Agrologists required.
