Position Purpose:

Reporting to the Enterprise Architect, Application and Integration, the incumbent designs and implements solutions supporting the University’s objectives. Involved in all phases of systems analysis, planning, and technical design, impacting large-scale, mission-critical systems. Provides leadership and guidance to ensure best practices and adherence to architectural standards. Collaborates with IT managers and Application Managers to plan, estimate, prioritize, and assign work. Supports and maintains operational applications, working on design, testing, and improvements, acting as a specialist in complex technologies to support critical university-wide systems.

Responsibilities include:
  • Team Lead: Collaborate with the IT Manager to plan, estimate, prioritize, and assign work. Provide advice on system development and design options.
  • Standards and Frameworks: Ensure development standards and design frameworks are followed. Lead documentation of best practices.
  • Development Lifecycle: Analyze business requirements, conduct fit/gap analysis, evaluate impacts, design architecture, and validate solutions. Manage implementation, testing, and migration.
  • Quality Assurance: Review program logic, oversee testing, debugging, and documentation.
Qualifications:
  • University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 10 years in a complex IT environment.
  • At least 5 years in application development and implementation.
  • Proven leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.
  • Experience in quality assurance, defect management, and community of practice leadership.
  • Expertise in BDD and TDD methodologies, test automation, and SDLC.
  • Knowledge of performance tuning, REST API integration, database design, and project management (Agile, Scrum, Kanban).
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with university IT policies is a plus.
  • Proactive in staying updated with emerging technologies.
  • Bilingual in French and English (written and spoken).
