The Generator project engineering manager will be responsible for the technical execution of generator design for the hydroelectric industry. He / She will coordinate between engineering disciplines working on generator design and its associated systems, and serve as the primary communication link between the engineering design teams and the project office.
- Be the technical interface between the design engineering team working on generator products and the main Engineering Project Manager.
- Analyze and coordinate technical contract requirements with the customer and product design team.
- Plan and manage coordination meetings with design engineers assigned to the generator product.
- Manage engineering schedule and align technical decisions to meet delivery deadlines, quality, and cost targets.
- Coordinate collection of technical feedback from projects and develop mitigation plans with design engineers.
- Manage project budget, margin movements, and technical opportunities for the generator design engineering team.
- Support site teams during installation and commissioning of hydro generating units.
- Provide work packages to each design engineering discipline, including client requirements, interfaces, planning, performance, reliability, and budget.
- Manage technical documentation related to the generator product.
- Serve as the technical single point of contact to the customer for the generator product.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of generator design.
- Experience in customer relationship management.
- Ability to travel occasionally.
Preferred Qualifications / Characteristics
- Experience in the hydroelectric industry.
- Fluent in French.
- Member of a Canadian professional engineering license.
- Project management certification.
- Leadership, proactiveness, sense of urgency, autonomy; ability to interact across functions.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; excellent communication skills.
- Ability to manage multitasking activities in a multicultural and global environment.
