The Associate Director of Care RN plays a critical role within our communities, impacting residents' lives through strong leadership and motivation of Sienna team members.
As an Associate Director of Care RN, your typical day will include:
- Overseeing the nursing team based on clearly defined lines of authority and communication.
- Performing nursing duties to ensure clinical excellence at all levels in the care community.
- Overseeing clinical care processes to ensure care is delivered according to individual plans of care for residents.
- Leading the implementation and monitoring of clinical programs such as Falls Prevention, Skin and Wound Care, Continence Care, and Pain Management.
- Participating actively in committees according to the terms of reference and areas of responsibility.
- Modeling and fostering an environment of positive customer service in all aspects of care.
- Coordinating and ensuring care processes for programs like RAI MDS, Nursing Rehab, and Restorative Care are implemented, evaluated, and monitored.
- Leading recruitment, retention, orientation, and employee labor relations efforts for Personal Support Workers and Care Support Assistants.
- Identifying nursing department learning needs and providing appropriate education to support clinical care and capacity building.
- Providing regular performance feedback to team members.
- Supporting home area/neighborhood leaders with complex care issues to foster positive resident outcomes.
- Assisting in staffing development in line with budgets and collective bargaining agreements.
- Contributing to job routines for nursing personnel.
- Ensuring clinical care is resident-centered and based on evidence-based best practices.
- Aligning nursing practice with provincial governing bodies and organizational values.
- Promoting effective move-in and move-out processes.
- Participating in Resident and Interdisciplinary Team Conferences as needed.
- Adhering to health and safety policies and regulations.
- Monitoring procurement and supply procedures for timely resource availability.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Must Haves
- Current registration with the provincial College of Nurses.
- At least 3 years of clinical nursing experience in seniors’ care, including geriatric, long-term care, rehabilitation, or chronic care settings.
- Proficiency with WORD, email, internet, and computerized documentation.
- Ability to coach and mentor team members.
- Willingness to upgrade and maintain personal and educational qualifications.
- Meeting provincial police check and tuberculosis screening requirements as applicable.
Bonus Points For Having
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent post-diploma education.
- Knowledge of provincial Long Term Care Act & Regulations.
