The Employer Account Services Representative III is responsible for managing employer accounts in a timely and efficient manner. This includes determining account eligibility in accordance with the Workers’ Compensation Act and related policies, and clearly communicating these decisions to all applicants.

The role also involves assessing industry classification, combinations of experience, and amalgamations of companies, as well as investigating and initiating premium collection for all accounts, following established WCB Policies and Procedures.

Your Employer Account Services Representative III responsibilities:

  • Determine whether the applicant is an employer and whether they are eligible for a WCB account using the WCB Act, Policies and Procedures
  • Open, close or re-open all accounts by following the WCB Policies and Procedures
  • Investigate and initiate collection of premiums for all accounts by following the WCB Policies and Procedures. Authorize legal action to protect WCB and client interests as required
  • Determine, process and approve changes in business operations
  • Address all employer account inquiries
  • Communicating detailed information regarding pricing decisions and other transactions, both in writing and verbally
  • Determine, process and approve all combinations and amalgamations
  • Issue clearance letters including special clearances
  • Follow up with employers regarding claims with unregistered employers
  • Determine employer/worker status in claims related issues at an appeal level
  • Explain business processes and promote the Employer Mobile App (EMA) and myWCB online services
  • Address general inquiries from employers and injured workers in person at the front counter
  • Provide additional phone support within the department based on business needs
  • Provide mentoring to employees within the unit

Your experience and skills:

  • Three to five years of experience in Insurance, Risk Management, Collections or other similar environment
  • A degree or diploma in Business, Finance or Risk Management or combination of experience and education would be considered
  • Collections experience would be a definite asset
  • Familiarity and knowledge with the fundamental concepts of insurance and underwriting practices. Strong working knowledge of WCB Act, Policies and Procedures, Industry and business practices in relation to Employer Account Services would be an asset
  • Exceptional customer services and decision-making skills
  • Proven ability to manage and organize a high volume of tasks
  • Proven time management, priority setting skills and ability to set and achieve goals
  • Positive team player with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong initiative, leadership, research and negotiation skills are required
  • Diplomacy in handling sensitive and controversial issues
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to a changing environment
  • Good keyboarding and computer skills are essential

Salary: $68,544.00 to $77,429.00 per annum (Salary Grade 9)

This position is temporary for a period of up to one year with the possibility of extension or permanency. Final candidates for this position are required to undergo a security clearance as a condition of employment. Successful candidate must reside in Alberta and be able to work in person in our Edmonton downtown or Calgary offices as required by their position.
