This role involves leading a multidisciplinary team in designing, developing, and delivering project tasks, while managing scope, budget, and quality. The Group Director oversees financial metrics across departments, collaborates with leadership on strategic initiatives, and supports project pursuits and proposals. The position also entails coordinating project priorities, staffing, and staff assignments to ensure optimal resource allocation. The role requires technical coaching, mentoring, and ensuring high-quality service delivery. The direct and indirect supervision typically includes 25 to 40+ employees.

What You'll Do :

  • Manage operating budgets for the group and coordinate with the office budget.
  • Oversee activities across multiple departments, establish priorities, and assign staff to projects. Collaborate with other groups and divisions on work-sharing.
  • Implement the firm's strategic plan and sales approach in project pursuits and markets, including developing strategic planning strategies.
  • Lead the firm's contracting process, including scope, work plans, and fee reviews for all group-impacting activities.
  • Ensure quality project delivery through work planning, reviews, and performance monitoring.
  • Support marketing efforts, including client discovery, proposals, interviews, and client relationship management.
  • Lead efforts in sales and marketing to grow the department.
  • Contribute to the office's strategic planning and participate in leadership teams as appropriate.
  • Recruit, hire, develop, and retain staff, supporting performance reviews and succession planning.
  • Manage project activities, including scope, schedule, budget, and technical tasks such as research, reports, and design.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

What You'll Need :

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with at least 12 years of practical experience, including 4 years of supervisory experience.

What We Prefer :

  • 15+ years of practical experience.
  • 6+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Locations :

  • Pay Range : For Los Angeles Metro Area and Orange County, CA: $202,620.86 - $323,667.10. For San Diego, Sacramento, and Inland Empire, CA: $193,811.25 - $309,594.62. Actual compensation depends on qualifications, experience, and location.
