Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving engineering for Targeting Recommendations. You will define, build, and ship solutions that enhance Amazon’s shoppers’ and advertisers’ experiences. You will play a pivotal role in managing projects at all stages: inception, design, development, deployment, and ongoing improvements. You will tackle challenging problems and coordinate high-profile projects across multiple teams to ensure our goals are met. You will work with scaling Machine Learning Models and utilize Large Language Models (LLMs) in your pipelines. You will interface across product, engineering, and applied science teams within Performance Advertising and other teams such as Amazon Search and UX to deliver state-of-the-art solutions.

1. 5+ years of engineering team management experience
2. 7+ years of direct experience working within engineering teams
3. 3+ years of designing or architecting systems (design patterns, reliability, and scaling)
4. Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live-site operations
5. Experience partnering with product or program management teams
6. Experience communicating with users, technical teams, and senior leadership to gather requirements, describe software features, technical designs, and product strategy
7. Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and effectiveness
8. Experience scaling Machine Learning Pipelines, including Deep Learning and Machine Learning; experience with Large Language Models is a plus
