Your Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Stormwater Engineer for our Calgary office within our Community Development group. You will work closely with the Stormwater Engineering Manager on team building, business development, and project leadership. Responsibilities include supervising junior staff, industry engagement, client support, stormwater discipline leadership, report and plan preparation, and project management. Our projects span municipal, transportation, subdivision, and private site development sectors. This role is ideal for a motivated, energetic individual eager to challenge themselves in a dynamic environment.

The candidate must be self-directed, capable of leading small teams, eager to mentor staff, and passionate about stormwater industry involvement and local practice development. The role balances supervision, discipline and project leadership, business development, and engineering/design coordination.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Supervise junior staff and support hiring, mentorship, training, workload, and career development.
  2. Engage in client and business development, including marketing support.
  3. Lead industry engagement efforts.
  4. Lead design teams on stormwater and drainage projects, including infrastructure and multidisciplinary projects.
  5. Oversee designs using PCSWMM and CAD, managing engineers and technicians.
  6. Develop and prepare project design components: reports, plans, specifications, and estimates.
  7. Manage projects from conceptual design through to construction, including scheduling and tendering.
  8. Conduct peer reviews and quality control of engineering documents.
  9. Assist in pursuits, including proposals, scopes, teams, budgets, and schedules.
  10. Coordinate with clients, agencies, and authorities for project requirements and permits.
Capabilities and Credentials
  • Effective team player in a hybrid work environment.
  • Thorough understanding of stormwater management in various development contexts.
  • Strong project management and financial skills, with leadership experience.
  • Existing relationships with private developers and municipal staff are assets.
  • Proficiency in PCSWMM, AutoCAD; Civil 3D and GIS are assets.
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and flexibility.
  • Registration or eligibility as a Professional Engineer with APEGA is preferred.
Education and Experience
  • Civil Engineering Degree or related; Master's is an asset; minimum 15 years of experience.

The role is primarily office-based but may include field work. We offer flexible work arrangements, including remote work options.
