Our Opportunity :

The Manager, Construction, Firehouse Subs Canada West is responsible for supporting planned store openings each year for the Firehouse Subs brand in the Canada West region. The Manager, Construction will oversee the progress of projects from start to finish—providing professional advice; guiding vendors; managing schedule, cost, and quality; and reporting project status to internal partners. This role involves collaboration with multiple teams including field teams, real estate, operations, technology, and finance.

Roles and Responsibilities :

  • Partner with Design and Regional Construction teams to improve construction processes and develop the region.
  • Coordinate new store development and remodels with franchise and regional teams, maintaining positive relationships and ongoing communication.
  • Adhere to all regional and national construction and operational standards.
  • Manage all phases of construction projects, including due diligence, scheduling, budgeting, planning, design, FF&E procurement, and store move coordination, ensuring projects stay within budget and schedule.
  • Serve as liaison with all Firehouse Subs departments and external contractors, coordinating towards common goals and making critical decisions professionally.
  • Work with regional leadership on store design and act as a liaison to contractors, vendors, and the construction community.
  • Assist in managing the regional equipment purchasing process, ensuring timely procurement and delivery of fixtures and equipment.
  • Supervise construction administration tasks, including contracts, change orders, schedules, purchase orders, invoicing, and project documentation.
  • Evaluate consultants and contractors within the Firehouse Subs Business Partner Network.
  • Provide reporting and analysis to track construction performance.

Required Skills :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of relevant construction experience; QSR or casual dining experience preferred.
  • Experience with construction budgets and cost tracking.
  • Knowledge of store equipment, planning, and operations.
  • Proficiency in estimating, scheduling, and database applications.
  • Basic understanding of restaurant food operations.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 80% and work flexible hours, including early mornings and late nights.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple projects under pressure.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and tactful handling of challenging situations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with design consultants and facilitate development and construction drawings.
  • Leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High proficiency in Excel.
  • Integrity, accountability, and passion for the brand's success.
