Arobas Personnel is seeking a Senior AI Engineer for a contract position with our client in Toronto.

*Remote: Hybrid - 1 day/week in the office*

Responsibilities:

• Architecting & Developing AI Solutions: Design, build, test, and deploy AI/ML-powered tools, including applications, AI assistants, and predictive systems, with hands-on coding.
• Leading System Design & Architecture: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create scalable and maintainable system architectures.
• Building Scalable Systems & APIs: Develop high-performance APIs, microservices, and backend services for AI integration.
• Innovating & Prototyping: Explore and implement advanced AI techniques to solve complex business problems.
• System Integration & Optimization: Integrate AI capabilities into broader systems, focusing on scalability, performance, and cost-efficiency, especially within GCP.
• Ensuring Production-Ready Systems: Implement best practices in CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and documentation to ensure system stability and maintainability.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 5+ years in software development and system design, with a history of building complex applications.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• AI/ML Experience: Practical experience integrating AI/ML into applications and understanding the ML lifecycle.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to address technical challenges creatively and effectively.
• Cloud Expertise: Experience with scalable applications on cloud platforms, preferably GCP; AWS or Azure are acceptable alternatives.
• Team & Communication: Familiarity with agile methodologies and strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with modern AI stacks such as LLMs, RAG architectures, and agentic AI tools (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, AutoGen).
• Knowledge of MLOps practices and platforms like Vertex AI, Kubeflow, MLflow; HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills are a plus.

Distributed Systems Know-How: Extensive experience with microservices, event-driven architectures, or similar distributed systems.
