Job description

As the province’s largest energy provider with over 100 years of experience, we proudly deliver renewable energy, natural gas, electricity, and propane to 1.2 million customers.

We are actively seeking new talent to join our mission of transforming B.C.'s energy landscape. With a diverse team of over 2,600 employees, we are committed to a safe and inclusive culture where everyone can connect, belong, and grow. Join us to help shape a brighter future for B.C.

Position Overview

We are looking for someone with an analytical mindset who enjoys working with numbers and turning data into meaningful insights. You thrive in both independent and collaborative environments, leveraging each to find innovative solutions that drive our business forward.

As a Manager of Carbon Accounting, you will lead a team of environmental professionals and serve as a subject matter expert on greenhouse gas (GHG) and criteria air contaminant reporting. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Carbon Management, your focus will be on ensuring compliance with regulatory and non-regulatory GHG reporting requirements.

If you're ready to make a real impact, join us in transforming B.C.’s energy future.

In this role, you will:

  • Become a subject matter expert on GHG emission sources within the organization, developing an in-depth understanding of asset types (distribution, transmission, LNG), operational activities, and GHG quantification techniques.
  • Develop strong relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with all relevant requirements.
  • Lead strategic initiatives such as grant writing, GHG reduction technologies, and providing technical support on major projects and financial initiatives related to carbon management.
  • Refine GHG quantification models and processes for data collection, tracking, and management, and support forecasting and analysis of GHG emissions.
  • Collaborate with natural gas utilities on developing GHG quantification and reduction technologies for the sector.

What it takes:

  • A bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or a related field from an accredited university, with 8-10 years of relevant experience.
  • A professional designation such as P.Eng., CPA, or Chemist, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A detail-oriented approach with the ability to process large data sets and translate findings into actionable insights.
  • Experience with GHG quantification and modeling software like OpenLCA, GHGenius, Workiva, or HIS Sphera.
  • Proven research skills to resolve problems related to GHG emissions quantification, savings, and related programs.

We offer flexible work options, allowing participation in a program to work from an approved location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year, depending on operational needs.

Our workplace is engaging, safe, inclusive, and diverse. We provide competitive salaries and benefits, support career development, and encourage community volunteerism.
