Salary: Management Band 3, starting at $84,942 - $106,177 annually

Location: Any CLBC office (Hybrid - 1 day per week in office)

The Indigenous Relations Department aims to advance Cultural Safety through research, development, and initiatives aligned with Indigenous priorities and provincial mandates.

About the opportunity:

As the Manager of Indigenous Strategic Initiatives at CLBC, you will lead a growing team responsible for advancing reconciliation across four key areas: (1) Organizational & Team Leadership; (2) Managing Indigenous Relations workplan and policies; (3) Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership development; (4) Service Design & Improvement to meet Indigenous priorities, including quality improvement, training, change management, research, and advising.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support divisional and organizational priorities within the CLBC Strategic and Service Plans, and support the Indigenous Advisory Committee.
  • Manage projects end-to-end with strategic planning, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
  • Influence change towards trusting relationships with Indigenous communities, aligning actions with Indigenous rights.
  • Work with the Director, Cultural Safety & Humility, to develop strategic improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure the experiences of individuals with developmental disabilities are integrated into initiatives and projects.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders including leadership, community members, and government partners.
  • Participate actively in change processes, engaging project teams and feedback mechanisms.
  • Support staff in exploring and adopting practices that enhance community engagement.
  • Assess service effectiveness and cultural safety related to Indigenous communities, aligning with policies.

You will supervise approximately six staff, including recruitment, onboarding, and supervision, and manage a budget of around $2,500,000.

Qualifications:

  • A diploma or bachelor's degree in public/business administration, policy, social services, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Leadership experience, including project management, in Indigenous and community living sectors.
  • We welcome transferable skills, lived experience, and comparable qualifications to reduce application barriers.
  • Experience in public sector organizations is an asset.

  • Understanding of Indigenous governance, policies, and reconciliation mandates.
  • Ability to navigate organizational and cultural change with sensitivity.
  • Knowledge of organizational development, quality improvement, and change management.
  • Expertise in Indigenous engagement, reconciliation, and cultural safety.
  • Strong project management, policy analysis, and training design skills.
