POSITION: Part-Time Support Worker 1

REGION: [Supported Living East]

HOURS OF WORK: 25 hours per week

As a leader in the field, Community Living Toronto offers supports to over 6,000 individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families, including residential and day support, assistance with employment, community support, early childhood services, and respite.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High-school diploma, 6 months of related work experience, and knowledge of health-care procedures and mechanical equipment such as wheelchairs, lifts, G-tubes, and other specialized equipment.
  • Post-secondary education focused on Social Services or Developmental Services may be considered as an equivalent with no related work experience required.
  • Successful completion of internal legislated and mandated training is required.
  • Valid driver’s license is an asset.

JOB SUMMARY:

Contributes to the delivery of supports and programs aligned with individual life plans to meet their needs and enhance their capacity to function in all aspects of community living.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the assessment of daily needs of individuals and the implementation of their life plans, monitoring personal outcomes.
  • Provide personal and physical care, including medication administration and crisis response.
  • Liaise with friends and family as needed to address needs and share information.
  • Support life skills training and offer emotional support to individuals on a one-on-one or group basis.
