QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training in general building maintenance and repair.
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s license, a good driving record, and ability to drive a van.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience in carpentry, plumbing, drywalling, painting, and electrical repairs.
  • Knowledge of carpentry and building maintenance, basic electrical, plumbing, woodworking, painting, and cement repair.
  • Mechanical/electrical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of construction, renovations, and use of basic tools and equipment.
  • Ability to perform daily building maintenance routines.
  • Decision-making skills, prioritization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Basic computer skills.
JOB SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Worker 1 is responsible for maintaining and repairing Community Living Toronto’s properties, ensuring safety and addressing deficiencies. Performs preventative and regular maintenance, minor renovations, and maintains interior/exterior areas of all properties.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • General Maintenance: Carpentry, drywall repairs, plastering, painting, lock and door repairs, flooring, tile replacement, patio and fence repairs, window and screen replacements.
  • Plumbing repairs including tap washers, faucets, unclogging drains.
  • Minor electrical work: replacing light switches, fixtures, and minor appliance repairs.
  • Inspect buildings for needed repairs.
  • Respond to emergencies such as floods, broken pipes, power failures.
  • Maintain a clean, hazard-free work area and complete tasks timely.
  • Transport tools and materials, ensuring availability at job sites.
  • Follow health and safety practices.
  • Administrative: Submit receipts, maintain accurate records of work completed.
