POSITION: Temporary Support Worker 1 ONA

REGION: Supported Living - West

HOURS OF WORK: 37.5 hours per week

As a leader in the field, Community Living Toronto offers supports to over 6,000 individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families, including residential and day supports, employment assistance, community support, early childhood services, and respite.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma, 6 months of related work experience, and knowledge of healthcare procedures and mechanical equipment (wheelchairs, lifts, G-tubes, etc.) are required.
  • Post-secondary education focused on Social Services or Developmental Services may be considered equivalent with no related experience.
  • Successful completion of internal legislated and mandated training is required.
  • A valid driver’s license is an asset.

JOB SUMMARY:

Contributes to the delivery of supports and programs aligned with individual life plans to meet their needs and enhance their capacity to function in community living.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under the supervision of a program supervisor, responsible for carrying out assigned duties related to service provision.
  • Support assessment of daily needs and implementation of life plans, monitoring personal outcomes.
  • Provide personal and physical care, including medication administration and crisis response.
  • Communicate with friends and family as needed, sharing information on behalf of individuals supported.
  • Support life skills training and provide emotional support in one-on-one or group settings.
