Job description

Tradesperson, Plumber

Term Position: 8 hours per day

Effective July 2 - December 31, 2025

Rate of Pay: As per the CUPE Collective Agreement ($31.02)

Terms and conditions of employment, including wages, are in accordance with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Collective Agreement, Local 3876.

Title:

Journeyman Certified Qualified Tradesperson - Plumber

Reporting To:

Property Services Supervisor - Mechanical

Role:

Performs work up to and including journey level trades work in constructing, maintaining, and repairing building plumbing systems and components. Acts in a leadership role in installation, maintenance, repair, and construction projects.

Responsibilities:
  1. Builds, repairs, maintains, and installs plumbing systems including but not limited to water, wastewater, hydronic, and sprinkler systems following established practices and standards;
  2. Assists in planning and coordinating building or capital improvement projects, determining material quantities and work time for accurate cost and schedule estimates;
  3. Performs semi-skilled work and labor associated with other trades as required;
  4. Ensures all work complies with standard practices, design specifications, relevant codes, and good trade practices;
  5. Provides emergency response and corrective actions for urgent building issues;
  6. Maintains records such as equipment repair history, work orders, daily job cards, vehicle records, and test reports;
  7. Ensures availability of materials and parts, initiates ordering, and maintains vehicle inventory;
  8. Liaises with consultants, contractors, inspectors, suppliers, and other departments on maintenance and projects;
  9. Completes and documents work orders, including time and materials, and submits them to the operations department;
  10. Prepares written reports on inspections or tests with recommendations for improvements;
  11. Performs duties responsibly and within budget constraints;
  12. Evaluates building and facility conditions and provides written reports;
  13. Trains and evaluates apprentices and staff, reviewing progress and making adjustments as needed;
  14. Performs all duties in compliance with policies, procedures, and laws, including occupational health and safety, WHMIS, and evacuation plans;
  15. Performs other related duties as assigned.
