What is the opportunity?

The Managing Director is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing Directors, Vice Presidents, and Associates. You will provide guidance, coaching, training, and support for their development, managing challenges and escalations. You will be accountable for achieving goals related to high performance, delivering a superior client experience through identifying and presenting client solutions, and creating sustainable value for RBC shareholders.

What will you do?

Lead a team to:

  1. Develop a strategic understanding of the company's business model, market position, and growth/divestiture plans. Understand risks and opportunities impacting business performance.
  2. Develop a mutual understanding of client needs for creation, protection, and realization of shareholder value. Be viewed as a trusted financial advisor.
  3. Develop and maintain a client opportunity pipeline and originate new clients for CCG.
  4. Work closely with Corporate Client Group Finance (CCGF) to ensure delivery of highly customized credit solutions with proper risk oversight. Collaborate with your Specialized Finance, Treasury Cash Management, and Capital Markets teams to ensure optimal client solutions and experiences.
  5. Ensure appropriate senior coverage with Regional Head, CCG.
  6. Create and deliver a superior customer experience to each client through thorough pre-call research, a consulting approach, and regular relationship reviews, including annual meetings with ownership or senior executives and detailed relationship summaries.
  7. Maintain and expand your client network and Centers of Influence (COIs).
  8. Monitor market and industry news and trends.
  9. Regularly evaluate progress against client strategies with partners and clients, taking corrective actions to meet revenue targets.
  10. Complete weekly and monthly sales and market reports.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Degree in Business, Economics, or Finance.
  • 10+ years of experience in Corporate Banking, Commercial Lending, or Corporate Finance/Advisory, including experience in relationship management with success managing complex, long sales cycles and cross-selling banking, risk management, and corporate financing products/services.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and technical skills.
  • Ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous leadership experience and the ability to work effectively in a team with a marketing/business development focus.
  • Ability to perform under pressure, meet deadlines, prioritize, and multitask across multiple groups.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to tasks.

Nice to have:

  • MBA, CPA, or CFA.
  • Experience working with Industrial, Consumer, or public organizations.
  • Existing corporate client network and contacts.
