The Opportunity

CGMH is currently looking for a Technical Support Co-op Student who will support our dynamic team by providing first tier remote and on-site support to end users with CGMH’s desktops, laptops, telecommunications, networking, and server infrastructure.

Reporting to the Manager, Health Information Technology, the Technical Support Specialist blends strong analytical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills to deliver superior customer service experience for CGMH’s end users.

Eligibility

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary degree or diploma program, with commitment of returning to the program come September. The enrolled program must be related to the job function (e.g. health sciences, psychology, medicine).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including experience working with vulnerable populations (e.g. racialized communities, persons living with disabilities, older adults with cognitive difficulties).
  • Experience and passion for community outreach.
  • Able to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, experience doing conference presentations and preparing or publishing manuscripts is a huge bonus.
  • Excellent time-management skills, including ability to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Canada Summer Jobs Program Eligibility:
    • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period*
    • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment** and
    • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide IT Service Desk support and resolve problems to the end user’s satisfaction
  • Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to requests received through the IT service desk
  • Monitor Service Desk for tickets assigned to the queue and process based on priority
  • Assist with onboarding and setup of new users
  • Manage thin client setup and deployment for new employees using standard hardware images and software
  • Ensure each workstation is properly configured and peripherals are installed.
  • Movement of users and equipment as required
  • Testing of installed software and peripherals are working as expected.
  • Maintain inventory of all equipment, software, and software licenses
  • Report and escalate issues as required
  • Document internal procedures
  • Perform timely workstation hardware and software upgrades as required
