Job description

Distribution Engineer

Greater Sudbury Utilities Inc. (GSU) a diversified, community-owned corporation has an opportunity for a Distribution Engineer. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of distribution design and construction standards, as well as distribution equipment specifications.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • distribution system short-term and long-term growth and betterment planning.
  • assist in load flow and loss optimization analysis, fault level studies and fuse/relay coordination.
  • reporting to regulatory bodies such as the OEB and the ESA on matters pertaining to distribution system reliability, maintenance, and safety.
  • assist in the preparation of distribution system operating, maintenance and capital expenditure budgets.

The successful applicant must possess the following qualifications:

  • A four-year University degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent by the Professional Engineers Ontario.
  • A valid class G driver’s licence is required.
  • Five years of experience in Utility electrical distribution systems.
