We are currently looking for a Travel Management Specialist based out of St. Thomas, ON.

Our mission has started. Volkswagen Group’s largest cell factory in St. Thomas will carry out all battery activities – from processing raw materials to developing a unified Volkswagen battery to managing the European and North American gigafactories. Headquartered in Salzgitter, Germany, we are experiencing the transformation of mobility up close. Our goal is to contribute a positive impact to our global society, the environment, and the economy. For the initial ramp-up phase of our North American operations, we are looking for a passionate Travel Management Specialist who wants to CELLebrate in fast-paced and fast-changing environments. As part of the ramp-up team, you will work closely with the HR Team in St. Thomas, our PowerCo SE team members at Headquarters in Germany, as well as colleagues from Volkswagen Group Canada in Ajax, ON. Reporting temporarily to the Chief Human Resources Officer for VGCA, you will be responsible for determining travel policies and regularly adapting them to legal and corporate requirements, providing professional support in negotiations with service providers and travel agencies.

This is a temporary flex hybrid model requiring 2 days in the St. Thomas office.

Primary Responsibilities :

  1. Provide professional support in negotiations with service providers and travel agencies
  2. Establish and maintain relationships with preferred partners for travel services, ensuring high-quality service delivery
  3. Determine travel policies and regularly adapt them to local, legal, and corporate requirements
  4. Optimize the procurement process for all travel services, including consolidating demand
  5. Oversee and control travel expenses in alignment with travel policy guidelines
  6. Conduct quality controls and generate reports on processes and workflows, highlighting necessary improvements
  7. Address inquiries and provide professional assistance to enhance overall employee experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, vocational training as a travel agent, or a comparable qualification
  • Experience with SAP Concur
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in travel management
  • Project management experience is an asset
  • Understanding of corporate travel logistics and practices
  • Experience with local and global travel practices
